Florida 2022-Day 2
Our second day of getting out to see something besides seashells was highlighted by Destin harbor in Destin Fla. It was a beautiful harbor full of festive energy during the Christmas season. The shops were decorated wonderfully and the energy level was high, even if it was “offseason”. It made for a great afternoon. The morning was spent at Henderson Beach State Park. The beach was so beautiful, it was showcased in an amazing fashion on this sunny but chilly morning.
Henderson Beach State Park started as a small part of a larger land investment in the 1930’s. It changed several times before the state of Florida bought it in 1982. It is 208 acres of beautiful beach front property valued at 13 million in 1982. There are many ways to enjoy the beach; biking, pickning, swimming or camping. We chose the old-fashion way of slowly strolling along the edge of the tide as it rolled in. Each new wave swept further up the beach. It was so peaceful and quiet. In the area we walked, we encountered about 30 people, the low number of people made the walk even better. 6 months later and this beach would be shoulder to shoulder full of families. Which is why we prefer to visit during the off-season. The following photos are a collection of aquatic birds that shared the beach with us.

Our next stop took us into Destin Florida. We drove into the harbor boardwalk to grab some lunch, then walked down to the boat with the purpose of seeing some dolphins. This time in the ocean and not a tank. Destin Harbor boardwalk provides any ocean experience you want to encounter. Once you decide how you want to explore the ocean, their is a boat ready and waiting to take you. Even if you have no plans for the ocean, the boardwalk host many shops, restaurants and places to get a cold one. Even the famous Margaritaville resides within this nationally acclaimed tourist destination spot. We chose both avenues and set out to see as much as the boardwalk before we boarded our dolphin tour boat. We had a great time. Once we were on our boat, our trip lasted two hours. It made a triangle between the waters off the pier, crab Island and the gulf of Mexico.
We started our journey here with a great lunch and, oh well you know.
We ended our day with an evening stroll down the Greenwood beach before heading out for a fabulous dinner at Brozinni’s Pizzeria (the pizza was amazing). The beach was just across the street from our condo on the famous 30A. With shoes in hand we took in the wonderful sights.
